“I like Mariposa’s Art because it’s a place where I can express my feelings and also make my dreams of being an artist come alive.” -Angelina, age 11
Mariposa’s Art provides after-school arts and music programs where youth learn to express themselves, creatively problem-solve, make healthy choices, and positively affect their communities.
Through Mariposa’s Art, a program of the Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County, high school students become leaders, mentors and role models by co-teaching with professional artists in schools that have little or no funding to support the arts during the regular school day. Founded in 1998, Mariposa’s Art serves more than 2,000 students annually.
